Join Father JEAN-MARIE KUZITUKA DID’HO on an exciting Pilgrimage to Europe visiting some of the most important Basilicas in Europe. The Pilgrimage will start in Rome where you will visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, followed by the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and the Basilica of St. Mary Major. The visit to the Vatican will include a visit to the Basilica of St Peter. One of your highlights will be a Papal Audience. You will then head south to San Giovanni Rotondo, the home of Padre Pio, where you will visit the ancient Church of Maria delle Grazie. You will then head north again to Assisi where you will visit the Basilica of St. Francis, Basilica of St. Clare and finally the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Once you arrive In Portugal you will visit many beautiful sites and the Basilica of Fatima and the Chapel of the Apparitions.

Day 1: JOHANNESBURG SUN, 03 SEP 2023
Meet at O.R Tambo International Airport at the check in counter for your flight to Rome. Please ensure that you arrive at the airport at least 4 hours prior to departure.

Arrive in Rome, proceed through customs, collect your luggage and exit the terminal. Meet the guide and transfer to your accommodation for check in.

Day 3: ROME, BASILICAS, VATICAN TUE, 05 SEP 2023
After breakfast, visit the four main Basilicas: starting with a private Mass in Saint Paul Outside the Walls, situated on the road that led to Ostia and built over the burial place of Paul the Apostle Then Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the seat of the papal throne, the oldest and the first in the established order of the papal basilicas as well as St. Mary Major, the largest church in Rome dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Time at leisure for lunch. Enjoy a guided visit of the Vatican including St Peter’s Basilica and square.

Day 4: PAPAL AUDIENCE, SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO WED, 06 SEP 2023
After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and then depart to the Vatican for a Papal Audience in St Peter’s square. Thereafter continue to San Giovanni Rotondo and check in to your accommodation upon arrival.

Day 5: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO THU, 07 SEP 2023
After breakfast, walk to the ancient Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and possible private Mass. Enjoy a guided visit of the new Church and the convent where Fr. Pio spent a good part of his mission: especially the crucifix from which he received the stigmata in 1918. You will see the confessional where Padre Pio spent innumerable hours with a multitude of pilgrims, directing them on their journey towards God.
In the afternoon, time at leisure for private devotion.

Day 6: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, ASSISI FRI, 08 SEP 2023
After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and transfer to Assis. Arrive in Assisi in the afternoon and meet the guide, visit St. Francis Basilica dedicated to the saint. Explore the quaint hilltop birthplace of St. Francis that still retains something of the atmosphere of the early 1200s, the period when the saint began his ministry. Contained within the huge 13th-century Basilica are many of the saint’s possessions and a series of frescoes by Giotto depicting his life. After a look at the ancient Roman temple, we go to the Basilica of St. Clare to see the saint’s incorrupt body. The foundress of the Order of Poor Clares followed the teachings of St. Francis by living a life of poverty and humility. Possible private Mass.

Day 7: ASSISI, FATIMA SAT, 09 SEP 2023
After breakfast, enjoy a guided visit by a local friar of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, built on the Porziuncola, the little church where St. Francis retired in prayer after his conversion.

Time at leisure and thereafter transfer to Rome Airport for your flight to Lisbon.
Arrive in Lisbon, proceed through customs, collect your luggage and exit the terminal. Meet your driver and transfer to Fatima.

Day 8: FATIMA, ALJUSTREL, VALINHOS SUN, 10 SEP 2023
After breakfast, meet the guide and depart by coach to visit Aljustrel, the homes where the three shepherds where born. Continue to Valinhos, visit the Stations of the Cross and the Calvary, the site of Our Lady’s 4th apparition and the place where the children received the first and the third visit of the “Angel of Peace”.
In the afternoon, guided visit of Fatima, including the Shrine with the Apparition Chapel, the Basilica where the graves of the visionaries can be seen and the new Church of the Trinity dedicated to St. John Paul II. h. 16.00 Visit to the permanent exhibition “Light and Peace”.

Day 9: FATIMA, BATALHA, NAZARE MON, 11 SEP 2023
After breakfast depart to the monastery of Batalha for a guided visit of this jewel of the Portuguese Gothic (interiors and cloisters). Continue to Nazaré, ancient fisherman place: ascent to the Sitio, panoramic point overlooking the Atlantic ocean and visit of the small chapel of Nazaré
Continue to Santarém and discover the church of the Holy Miracle related to what happened in Santarem in the XIV century. Possible private Mass.
